| 背面描述 | Central scene depicting General Douglas MacArthur, shown in right-facing profile bust wearing his distinctive peaked cap adorned with general's insignia, presiding over the Japanese surrender ceremony aboard a warship. In the left field, a row of uniformed Allied soldiers stands at attention before a naval gun turret and the towering superstructure of a battleship. A second figure is shown seated at a table in the middle ground, evoking the signing of the instrument of surrender. The commemorative legend arcs around the periphery, with the denomination inscribed along the lower border. |

Issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II, this coin carries particular weight for the Solomon Islands — the archipelago was among the most fiercely contested Pacific territories of the war, with the Guadalcanal campaign alone lasting six months and costing tens of thousands of lives on both sides. The islands were under Japanese occupation from 1942, and the naval battles fought in surrounding waters were decisive in halting Japanese expansion.
KM#54a is the silver variant of a base-metal issue struck in the same year.
