表面の説明	The obverse displays the coat of arms of Niue centrally positioned within the field, featuring a quartered shield bearing the Southern Cross stars, three sailing vessels, a coconut palm, and a hammer and tongs, surmounted by a royal crown. The shield is flanked on either side by stylised native fern fronds serving as supporters. The legend NIUE arcs along the upper left rim and the date 1996 arcs along the upper right rim, both rendered in raised Latin characters. The design is executed in high relief against a mirror-polished proof field.

追加情報	Niue's commemorative silver program in the 1990s was largely brokered through the New Zealand Mint, with the island's government licensing its name and currency authority to generate revenue — the coins were never intended for circulation on the island itself. This piece honors HMS Resolution, the vessel James Cook commanded on his second voyage of 1772–1775, during which he became the first navigator to cross the Antarctic Circle. Cook's second voyage definitively disproved the long-theorized Terra Australis Incognita as a temperate, habitable continent.
