Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse features a finely engraved cartographic plan of the city of Novosibirsk rendered across the entire field, depicting the urban street grid and the course of the Ob River in high relief. Superimposed upon the map is a selectively gold-plated rendition of the official coat of arms of Novosibirsk, comprising a shield surmounted by a mural crown and supported by two sable martens rampant, all executed in gilt finish against the silver ground. The Ob River is rendered as a polished mirror-like channel bisecting the city plan. The Cyrillic inscription 'НОВОСИБИРСК 120 ЛЕТ' curves along the lower periphery, commemorating the 120th anniversary of the city's founding.

Aanvullende informatie

Novosibirsk was founded in 1893 as a crossing point for the Trans-Siberian Railway over the Ob River — a purely logistical origin that somehow produced Russia's third-largest city within a century. Cook Islands silver issues of this format were produced in bulk during the early 2010s under licensing arrangements with European minting houses, typically Mint XXI or B.H. Mayer's, targeting the collector gift market rather than any circulation purpose. The Cook Islands government collected licensing fees; the coins never approached the islands.
