| 背面描述 | Central depiction of a medieval stone castle rendered in high relief, identifiable as Windsor Castle, with crenellated towers and an arched gatehouse. A large fantail bird with elaborate plumage — evoking the Cook Islands' native fauna — spreads its wings dramatically above the castle roofline. Decorative floral and foliate scrollwork frames the lower and side periphery of the design. The commemorative legend IMPERIAL VISIT FOR QUEEN ELIZABETH II DIAMOND JUBILEE arcs around the upper field, and the fineness mark .999 appears in the lower right of the central design. |

Cook Islands has issued commemoratives under its own authority since 1972, a quirk of its status as a self-governing territory in free association with New Zealand — it controls its own currency while remaining under the New Zealand Crown. The Diamond Jubilee series prompted a wave of such issues across Pacific territories, most struck by the Pobjoy Mint or Perth Mint on contract.
KM#1984 sits in a crowded field; Cook Islands produced dozens of jubilee-themed pieces in 2012, many sharing the same half-ounce silver format.
