Aanvullende informatie

Nauru's bullion coinage from this period was largely produced for the international collector market rather than any domestic monetary function — the island's population of roughly 10,000 had little use for fractional gold. The "Ballerina" series was struck by a private mint for licensed issue under the Bank of Nauru's authority, a common arrangement among Pacific microstates seeking seigniorage revenue from overseas numismatic demand.

At 0.5 grams, the piece contains approximately one sixty-second of a troy ounce of fine gold.
