| Opis rewersu | A three-quarter facing portrait bust of the Australian Antarctic explorer Sir Douglas Mawson dominates the left portion of the field, rendered in high relief with fine sculptural detail. Behind and to the right, a stylised polar geographic grid radiates outward across the field, overlaid with a schematic outline map inscribed ANTARCTICA, evoking Mawson's legendary expeditions to the continent. The denomination 5 DOLLARS is boldly inscribed at the upper right in large numerals with the currency word below.
