Behind and to the right, a stylised polar geographic grid radiates outward across the field, overlaid with a schematic outline map inscribed ANTARCTICA, evoking Mawson's legendary expeditions to the continent. The denomination 5 DOLLARS is boldly inscribed at the upper right in large numerals with the currency word below.
