Reverse description The arms of the Commonwealth of the Bahama Islands occupy the central field, comprising a quartered shield bearing a Royal Crown above a British man-of-war in full sail upon stylized waves, flanked by decorative foliate supporters. Two sunburst devices flank the base of the shield at either side. A scrolled ribbon below the shield bears the national motto in two lines. The denomination FIVE DOLLARS and the date 1971 arc along the upper periphery, while the motto EXPULSIS PIRATIS RESTITUTA COMMERCIA is inscribed on the scroll beneath the shield.
