Liberia's late-2000s religious series exploited a well-worn niche in the commemorative market: high-relief proof silver pieces sold directly to collectors with no meaningful circulation history. The "Christ and the Apostles" set issued individual coins for each of the twelve apostles, Thomas among them. None of these were legal tender in any practical sense — Liberia's actual circulating coinage bore no relation to this series, which was produced under licensing arrangements typical of Franklin Mint-style operations contracting with smaller sovereign issuers.
