The portrait is executed in a naturalistic style with fine detail in the hair and collar. Surrounding the central effigy is an ornate border composed of interlaced geometric Tokelauan traditional patterns. The legend CHARLES III arcs along the upper left, TOKELAU and 2024 along the upper right, and FIVE DOLLARS 1 OZ .999 SILVER along the lower arc. The engraver's initials DT appear to the lower right of the portrait.
