At upper left, an intaglio vignette presents two Native American hunters stalking a deer; the State Free Banking die appears at upper right, while an oval portrait of a woman, reputedly taken from life, occupies the lower right. The plate was engraved and printed by the American Bank Note Company, with the firm's imprint appearing twice in the lower border, alongside repeated FIVE denomination protectors. |
