The central vignette presents an intaglio portrait of Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Prime Minister of Canada 1896–1911, rendered in fine line engraving against a coloured guilloche underprint. To the right, a vertical see-through holographic strip incorporates a secondary portrait of Laurier at its upper portion, a vignette of the Mackenzie Tower atop the West Block of Parliament in Ottawa at its lower portion, and repeating numeral and text elements throughout, bordered by a translucent maple leaf motif; the denomination and issue year appear at the extreme right edge. |
