Additional information

Kuwait's dinar launched in 1961 as one of the first acts of the newly independent state, replacing the Gulf rupee at a rate fixed to sterling. The Central Bank itself wasn't established until 1969, making anniversary commemoratives like this one something of a retroactive institutional celebration — the 60 years counted from independence, not from the bank's own founding.
