Reverse description At center, a raised tondo reproduces the reverse of the ancient dinar of Numidian King Massinissa (circa 200 B.C.), depicting a walking elephant in profile to the right, with a Punic or Numidian inscription on a tablet beneath. The outer annulus bears the Arabic legend 'بنك الجزائر' (Bank of Algeria) along the upper arc, and 'دنانير ذهبية' (Gold Dinars) along the lower arc. The denomination numeral '5' appears twice in the field, flanking the central tondo at left and right.
