Below the eagle, the legend BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND arcs across the field, followed by DEUTSCHE MARK on the next line. The denomination numeral 5 is boldly rendered at center-bottom, flanked by the split date 19 and 79, with the Hamburg mint mark J positioned beneath the numeral. The design follows the standard obverse type used for West German commemorative 5 Mark pieces of this period. |
