| Obverse description | Printed in dark green and brown intaglio on a salmon-pink guilloche underprint, the obverse is framed by an elaborate interlocking lathe-work border. A small rosette vignette to the left carries the numeral "5" in intaglio, balanced on the right by a large circular guilloche medallion centred on the same numeral; the bold letterpress inscription "FÜNF DEUTSCHE MARK" spans the central field. The issuing authority legend and the place-date "BERLIN 1955" appear in smaller roman type beneath the denomination. |
