| Obverse description | Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, a pearl drop earring, and a pearl necklace, rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the left rim, while 'ISLE OF MAN' and the date '1996' arc along the right rim. The Pobjoy Mint mark 'PM' appears in small letters at the lower left of the effigy. The portrait is modelled after the Raphael Maklouf effigy used on British Commonwealth coinage during this period. |
