Obverse description Green and multicolor note with a central intaglio vignette of a large crowd scene, likely a historical or patriotic gathering, framed by ornate guilloche borders. The denomination numeral '5' appears in large decorative cartouches at left and right, with red serial numbers printed at upper left and upper right. The date '15 DE FEBRERO DE 1956' and series 'OA' with 'San Salvador' appear in the lower portion, above the signature line bearing titles DIRECTOR, PRESIDENTE, and CAJERO.

Reverse description Printed in solid green intaglio, the reverse centres on a circular medallion containing a bust portrait of Christopher Columbus in right profile. Large numeral '5' vignettes appear at left and right within guilloche rosettes, and the bank title runs across the top. A circular cancellation stamp is visible at left, and a manuscript date 'San Salvador, 24 de Octubre de 1956' appears below the portrait. The imprint of the American Bank Note Company is at the bottom margin.
