Beschrijving voorzijde Bimetallic coin featuring a finely detailed high-relief depiction of a Short-toed snake eagle (Circaetus gallicus) in the nickel silver center, shown in a dynamic predatory pose with wings spread and talons grasping a serpent. The raptor's plumage and feather details are rendered with exceptional sculptural precision. A bare branch appears in the right field of the center. The brass outer ring bears the Cyrillic legend ЗМЕЕЯД at the top and the Latin binomial Circaetus gallicus along the lower periphery, flanked by dot ornaments.

Aanvullende informatie

The short-toed snake eagle (*Circaetus gallicus*) appeared on Russian bimetallic circulation coins as part of the Bank of Russia's long-running "Red Book" series, which began in 1994 to highlight species listed in Russia's national register of endangered fauna. The Moscow Mint has produced dozens of denominations in this format over the decades, making the series one of the more sustained wildlife conservation coinage programs globally.

Five chervontsev — formally "5 рублей" in the broader catalog — circulates at face value despite the collectible subject matter.
