| 裏面の説明 | The reverse displays a large Roman numeral V at the center, flanked by an ornate agricultural wreath composed of cotton, corn, wheat, and oak, tied at the base with a ribbon. The national legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs along the upper periphery, while the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is inscribed in the lower field within the wreath. Notably, this first-year type lacks the word CENTS beneath the V, an omission that led unscrupulous individuals to gold-plate the coins and pass them as five-dollar gold pieces. Fine denticles ring the outer rim. |
