Additional information

The D-Day commemorative program has produced no shortage of issues over the decades, but this piece is notable for arriving in the seventy-fifth anniversary window — a deliberate scheduling choice by the RCM that aligned with a broader 2019–2020 commemorative push tied to the anniversary of the Normandy landings. Canada's role on Juno Beach on June 6, 1944, was distinct: the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division and 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade pushed further inland than any other Allied force that day, a fact that rarely receives proportionate acknowledgment in popular commemorative contexts.
