This piece belongs to the RCM's ongoing series of fine silver restrikes reproducing classic Canadian circulation designs — in this case, the Voyageur reverse originally introduced on the five-cent piece during George V's reign in the 1920s and 1930s. The obverse carries a period-appropriate effigy of George V rather than the current monarch, a deliberate anachronism that places the coin historically rather than in contemporary coinage.
Issued as a collector item with no circulation mandate, survival in pristine condition is essentially guaranteed across the entire mintage.
