Shingles after the portrait by Humphrey Paget, with engraver's initials 'HP' visible at the truncation of the neck. The circumscribed Latin legend reads GEORGIVS VI D:G: REX ET IND:IMP:, running clockwise around the periphery of the twelve-sided flan. The field is plain and the design fills the dodecagonal format with a strong, naturalistic portrait in high relief. |
