Obverse description Central round hole flanked by two symmetrical ornamental scroll devices in the field. A Tudor crown surmounts the design above the hole, serving as the principal regal motif in place of a royal effigy. The denomination FIVE CENTS is inscribed in two lines beneath the hole in the lower field. The circular legend QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND runs around the periphery, separated by the scrollwork, with a mint mark letter appearing at the base of the legend. The entire design is contained within a milled border.
