Reverse description The reverse bears a bare-headed right-facing portrait bust of Sir Milton Margai, first Prime Minister of Sierra Leone, engraved with fine stippled detail by Christopher Ironside. The effigy is centrally positioned within the field, with the engraver's initials MR visible at the lower truncation of the bust. The national motto UNITY·FREEDOM·JUSTICE arcs across the upper legend in evenly spaced capital letters separated by raised dots. The name SIR MILTON MARGAI is inscribed along the lower periphery, completing the circular surround, with additional dot separators punctuating the legend.
