| Obverse description | Central round hole flanked by the large monogram initials 'R' and 'F' (for République Française) in bold relief, surmounted by a small Phrygian cap above the hole. The monogram is framed within an ornate cartouche rendered in the Art Nouveau style. The entire design is enclosed by a wreath of oak branches with acorns to either side, and a rope-twist border runs along the coin's outer rim. The engraver's signature 'E. LINDAUER' appears in small lettering at the base of the design. |

| Reverse description | The central round hole is framed by an elegant olive branch spray in the Art Nouveau manner, with berries visible at the base. To the left of the hole, the large numeral '5' denotes the denomination, while to the right the abbreviation 'CMES' (for Centimes) appears within a decorative cartouche. The Republican motto 'LIBERTÉ·ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ' is inscribed in two arcing lines along the upper periphery. The date appears in the lower field, divided on either side of the central olive spray. A rope-twist border frames the entire reverse design. |
