Obverse description Green intaglio print on a pale guilloche underprint. An oval vignette at right contains an engraved portrait of President Aníbal Pinto, his name inscribed below; the central cartouche bears the large numeral "50" and the legend "CINCUENTA PESOS", with the issuer's title "BANCO CENTRAL DE CHILE" arching above and denomination counters occupying each corner. Two manuscript signatures appear at lower centre, representing the Presidente and Gerente General respectively, with an oval serial number panel positioned at left.

Reverse description Green on multicolour guilloche underprint, with the bank seal as the central motif. A red letterpress overprint has been applied across the face of the underlying note, restating the denomination as "5 CENTESIMOS DE ESCUDO" in accordance with the 1960 monetary reform that replaced the Peso with the Escudo at a rate of 1,000 to 1.
