Obverse description The Ecuadorian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a condor with spread wings perched atop an oval shield charged with Mount Chimborazo and a river scene in the base, with a radiant sun above. Two Ecuadorian flags flank the shield on either side, and a laurel branch appears at the base of the device. The circular legend REPUBLICA DEL ECUADOR runs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, bordered by a beaded inner rim. The date of issue appears in the lower exergual area beneath the coat of arms.
