| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse features four large Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in cruciform reading order around a central square hole: 咸 (Xian) above, 豐 (Feng) below, 通 (Tong) to the right, and 寶 (Bao) to the left, forming the reign title and monetary inscription 咸豐通寶 (Xianfeng Tongbao). The characters are rendered in bold, well-defined relief against a flat field, exhibiting the authoritative calligraphic style typical of Qing dynasty cash coinage. A plain raised rim borders the coin, and the square central perforation is neatly cast with squared inner edges. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse displays a denomination inscription arranged around the central square hole, with one Chinese character above (當, Dang) and one below (五, Wu, meaning 'five'), flanked on either side by the two Manchu script characters ᠪᠣᠣ (Boo) and ᠰᡠ (Su), reading vertically and identifying the Suzhou Mint. The Manchu characters are cast in raised relief and are separated by the square perforation. A plain raised rim encircles the design, consistent with standard Qing cash coin production of the Xianfeng period. |
