The characters read top-to-bottom and right-to-left in the traditional Chinese manner, with 大 (great) at the top, 通 (circulating) to the right, 寶 (treasure/currency) at the bottom, and 中 (zhong/central) to the left. The entire design is enclosed within a raised circular rim, and the surfaces display a mottled dark brown patina with areas of green cuprite consistent with age and burial. |
