The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation held a license to issue banknotes in Siam during the late nineteenth century, one of several foreign banks permitted to do so before the government moved to consolidate currency under state control. This note predates the establishment of the Thai government's own paper money by nearly a decade — the Ministry of Finance didn't issue its first notes until 1902.
Barclay & Fry operated out of Bristol, not London, despite the London credit sometimes associated with their output. A detail worth flagging when reconciling printer records against catalogue entries.
