The heading 'Notgeld' appears in large ornamental script at the top, followed by a statement of authorisation by the Reichsfinanzministerium for the 1923 Herbstmesse. The issuer's name 'MESSAMT FÜR DIE MUSTERMESSEN IN LEIPZIG' is set in bold capitals at centre, flanked on either side by the stylised double-M monogram of the Messamt; below, a historical quotation in archaic German script dated anno 1581 concerning the freedom of markets occupies the lower half, with the printer's imprint 'C. G. Naumann G.m.b.H. Leipzig' in small type at the lower right margin. |
