Two flanking vertical side panels carry red vignettes of stylised standing figures within guilloche borders, with the issuer name 'PHOENIX / Aktien-Gesellschaft für Bergbau und Hüttenbetrieb' printed vertically at left. The central field bears a fine cross-hatched guilloche underprint over which the denomination '5 BILLIONEN MARK' is printed in bold block letters, surmounted by the legend 'GUTSCHEIN ÜBER'; below the denomination a serial number, a two-line validity clause in italics, the place and date, and the issuer name 'PHOENIX' appear, with two manuscript signatures at foot and the printer's imprint 'GREVEN & BECHTOLD, KÖLN' at the base. |

Four red ribbon banners arching at the corners and along the top and bottom margins each carry the issuer name 'PHOENIX' in white letters. The central oval guilloche field, flanked by symmetrical decorative scroll-work in olive-brown, contains a vertical red rectangular underprint panel over which the denomination 'FÜNF BILLIONEN MARK' is printed in large bold block letters. A cancellation hole is punch-cancelled at the lower centre of the note. |
