Opmerkingen

Jüterbog-Luckenwalde was one of hundreds of German Kreise (administrative districts) that issued their own emergency currency during the hyperinflation of 1923, but the denomination here is the anomaly worth noting. Gold-denominated Notgeld — pegged conceptually to the Goldpfennig rather than the collapsing Papiermark — began appearing in mid-1923 as issuers scrambled to give their scrip any stable reference value. The "42 Pfennig Gold" figure almost certainly reflects a calculation tied to local fees, wages, or commodity prices converted at a fixed gold ratio rather than an arbitrary round number.

The embossed dry seal of the Kreisausschuss served as the primary authentication device, which was common practice for district-level issues where intaglio printing was neither available nor affordable.
