Prominently applied over the portrait is a rectangular Saint Vincent counterstamp punch displaying the letters S, IV, and B arranged in a cruciform pattern, denoting the denomination of 4½ Bits and authorizing the host coin for local circulation. The counterstamp is sharply struck into the field of the original coin, partially overlapping the royal effigy. |
