| 背面描述 | A centrally placed allegorical figure, identifiable as Justice or Concordia, seated amid attributes including a fasces, a cornucopia, and other emblems of ducal authority, all arranged in a dynamic Baroque composition. The denomination S. 40 appears in the lower exergual area, flanked by decorative stops. The circular Latin legend CONVENIENTIA CVIQVE ("to each their due") runs along the upper and lateral periphery, separated from the design by a toothed inner border. |

Ferdinand Charles was the last Gonzaga Duke of Mantua, and his reign ended in catastrophe. During the War of the Spanish Succession, he backed Louis XIV — a fatal miscalculation. Imperial forces seized Mantua in 1707, ending over three centuries of Gonzaga rule and extinguishing the duchy entirely. Coins struck under his name therefore span only the final years before that collapse, making any survivor a relic of a doomed administration rather than a functioning monetary system.
The CNI reference places this type at p.397, indicating relatively sparse documentation even within the series.
