Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Ferdinand Charles Gonzaga, Duke of Mantua, facing right, with elaborate period coiffure. The ducal effigy is rendered in high relief in the Baroque manner characteristic of late seventeenth- and early eighteenth-century Italian coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, divided by the bust truncation. The rim is defined by a fine inner circle.
