Obverse description Central vignette of the Russian Imperial double-headed eagle arms set within an ornate guilloche frame, flanked by the denomination numeral '40' in both upper corners. The note carries a characteristic cancellation perforation pattern applied by the Chaikovskiy Government. A bold text panel across the lower portion reads the denomination in full in Cyrillic.
