| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, the large denomination numeral '40' is prominently displayed in the center of the field, surmounted by a royal crown rendered in fine detail. The date '1813' appears below the numeral, flanked by decorative crosses. The circular Latin legend reads 'JOANNES D.G. PORT. ET BRAS. P. REGENS' around the periphery, separated from the inner design by a ring of evenly spaced beads. The overall composition is characteristic of the João Prince Regent coinage struck at the Rio de Janeiro mint. |
