| Obverse description | Typographically rich face printed in dark brown and red-orange on grey paper, with a decorative border of foliate ornaments enclosing the denomination numerals '40' in each corner. The central text is set in ornate blackletter script reading 'Kassenschein über Vierzig Heller', beneath which a guarantee clause in Fraktur type states that the Stadtgemeinde Rattenberg in Tirol pledges its full movable and immovable assets for redemption. A large red official town seal is impressed at centre, flanked by three manuscript signatures below the titles 'Der Vizebürgermeister', 'Der Bürgermeister', and 'Der Stadtkämmerer'; the validity date 'Gültig nur bis 31.
