背面描述 Central denomination numeral 40 displayed prominently within a beaded or reeded circular frame, surmounted by a ribbon bearing the legend CENTESIMOS and the mint initial D. Two olive or laurel sprigs flank the central value, tied together at the base with a bow, forming a wreath-like arrangement. The denomination and decorative elements are rendered in crisp relief against a plain field.

附加信息

Uruguay's early republican coinage was struck not domestically but under contract in Europe, and this issue came from the Künker facilities — a consequence of the young republic lacking any mint infrastructure of its own. The 1857 series emerged during a period of relative political stabilization following decades of conflict between the Blancos and Colorados factions, though that stability proved short-lived.

The centésimo de real was itself an awkward transitional denomination, bridging Spanish colonial monetary conventions with the decimal reforms that would fully arrive with the peso system established in 1862.
