| Reverse description | A five-line Latin scriptural inscription QVI DAT PAVPERI NON INDIGEBIT with the date 1720 on the final line, all contained within an elaborate baroque cartouche formed by foliate and acanthus scrollwork with a floral ornament at the top and bottom. The cartouche sits centrally within the field, and the entire design is framed by a toothed or milled border. The inscription is taken from Proverbs 28:27 and reflects the charitable motto of the Order of St. John. |
