Obverse description Central field displays the crowned Portuguese royal arms, the shield surmounted by an ornate crown with fleur-de-lis finial. The mint letters A and M (abbreviation for Asia-Malacca) are positioned prominently to the left and right of the shield respectively. The date 1633 appears in the lower field beneath the shield. A beaded border runs along the coin's circumference.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a large, boldly struck AT monogram in the form of a cross, with the letter A surmounting the crossbar of the T, occupying the central field. The letters D and M flank the lower stem of the monogram at its base, signifying 'De Malaca'. The numeral 4, indicating the denomination in tangas, appears in the exergue below. A beaded border encircles the design.
