The mintmark and assayer's initial appear to the left of the shield, with the denomination mark IIII to the right. A partial circular legend in Latin surrounds the shield within a beaded border. As characteristic of cob coinage, the design is irregularly struck and the flan shows the typical rough, uneven edges of a macuquina piece. |

| Opis rewersu | A bold Greek cross with flared terminals divides the field into four quarters, each containing alternating castles of Castile and lions rampant of León, rendered in the rough but vigorous style typical of hammered cob coinage from Potosí. The cross is contained within a double tressure of arched compartments forming a quatrefoil frame. A partial Latin legend encircles the design within a beaded border, with the denomination numeral IV visible at the foot of the cross on some specimens. The irregular flan shape and partial strike are consistent with the macuquina (cob) production method of the period. |
