Obverse description Typical macuquina (cob) obverse displaying the crowned Royal Arms of Castile and León within a shield, struck on an irregular flan characteristic of hammered coinage of the period. The quartered escutcheon shows the castles of Castile and the lions of León, with partial legend PHILIPVS V DEI G and the date distributed around the shield as permitted by the irregular planchet. Strike quality and flan shape vary considerably from piece to piece, as is standard for this coinage type.

Reverse description Cob-style reverse bearing the crowned pillars of Hercules flanking the globes, emblematic of the New World and Old World dominions of the Spanish Crown. The PLVS VLTRA motto appears on banderoles between the pillars, with the mint mark Mo, denomination 4, and assayer initial distributed in the field. The legend is partially visible due to the irregular flan, consistent with macuquina production standards of the Mexican Mint during the reign of Felipe V.
