Reverse description A bold Latin cross divides the field into four quadrants, each containing alternating castles of Castile and rampant lions of León set within a cusped quatrefoil or octolobe frame with ornate lobed cusps at each angle. The peripheral legend, partially struck due to the irregular hammered flan, reads HISPANIARVM REX. The overall design follows the standard macuquina type established for Spanish silver coinage under the Pragmatic of 1497, with the cross serving as the dominant compositional element.
