Reverse description	Printed entirely in red-orange on cream paper, the reverse is composed of elaborate engine-turned guilloche work arranged in a symmetrical pattern around a large central oval. Within the oval, an ornate interlaced monogram of the bank's initials is set against a fine lathe-work background, with the words FOUR and POUNDS arching above and below. THE STANDARD BANK OF BRITISH SOUTH AFRICA LIMITED runs in a ribbon border encircling the central medallion, and numeral 4 counters appear in multiple positions throughout the intricate geometric frame.
