Obverse description Central quartered shield displaying the composite arms of the joint Anhalt princes, with an eagle occupying the sinister half and horizontal bars and crosses filling the dexter quarters, all within a beaded inner circle. The peripheral legend, rendered in Latin capitals, runs around the coin face and abbreviates the names of the six co-ruling princes: Christian, August, Rudolph, Louis, John, and Casimir. The date 1621 appears within the legend. The overall style is characteristic of early seventeenth-century German hammered silver coinage.
