正面描述 Unadorned bare head effigy of King Faisal I in right-facing profile, modeled in high relief with fine detail to the hair and beard. The king's truncated bust is centered within the scalloped field, with the engraver's initials 'PM' (Percy Metcalfe) appearing below the truncation. Arabic legends identifying the monarch are inscribed in two vertical columns flanking the portrait, to the right and left respectively. The overall design is clean and restrained, consistent with the British Royal Mint tradition of the interwar period.

附加信息

Iraq's first national coinage series, issued under Faisal I, was struck at the Royal Mint in London beginning in 1931 — the same year the country gained formal independence from the British Mandate and was admitted to the League of Nations. The timing was deliberate; a sovereign coinage was as much a political instrument as a practical one for a kingdom that had existed in its current form for barely a decade.

Faisal I died in September 1933, making this short series a bookend to his reign.
