Obverse description Unadorned bare head effigy of King Faisal I in right-facing profile, modeled in high relief with fine detail to the hair and beard. The king's truncated bust is centered within the scalloped field, with the engraver's initials 'PM' (Percy Metcalfe) appearing below the truncation. Arabic legends identifying the monarch are inscribed in two vertical columns flanking the portrait, to the right and left respectively. The overall design is clean and restrained, consistent with the British Royal Mint tradition of the interwar period.

Reverse description The Arabic numeral '4' and the denomination inscription 'فلس' (Fils) are prominently displayed in the center of the field. The Hijri date appears to the right and the Gregorian date to the left of the central denomination. The legend 'المملكة العراقية' (Kingdom of Iraq) is divided above and below the denomination inscription, completing the design within the scalloped border. The layout is symmetrical and typographically clear, with no figurative elements on the reverse.
